Quaker Meadows Cemetery

Description

Quaker Meadows Cemetery is a gated cemetery and a certified site on the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail. It includes the graves of brothers Charles McDowell and Joseph McDowell as well as many other persons of the 18th century.

OVTA members firing a volley at Quaker Meadows Cemetery to honor the patriots

Members of the Overmountain Victory Trail Association (OVTA) reenact the campaign of the Overmountain Men to Kings Mountain each fall since 1975. On the morning of October 1, they fire a commemorative volley with black powder to salute the patriots buried at the Quaker Meadows Cemetery. [View Additional File Details]
